"Our daughter has really enjoyed the musical opportunities offered."

Year 6 parent

Music lessons are delivered as part of the curriculum by a specialist music teacher. Singing and recorder playing form an important part of these lessons, as do studies of various musical styles, different countries and eras. Individual tuition is available in piano, violin, ‘cello, brass and woodwind instruments from a team of visiting peripatetic teachers who prepare pupils for Associated Board examinations.

There are opportunities at lunchtimes for group music-making with recorder ensembles, choirs, wind band and string groups. The older, more accomplished players often join Senior School ensembles. Opportunities for performance range from playing in Junior School assemblies to participation in local music festivals as well as workshops, year group concerts and whole school events.

The vast majority of our Year 13 leavers go straight to university.  About three quarters of those go to a Russell Group university.

The remainder start a gap year, a course such as at an agricultural or design college or enter employment on a school leavers’ programme.
